Derivatizable Alkanethiols
Compounds in this category can be used to form SAMs that can be modified further after the monolayer has formed. The head groups in this category are reactive towards certain functional groups and thus additional moieties can be covalently linked to the SAM. A wide range of molecules including proteins, receptors and antibodies can potentially be attached to these monolayers.
